Senior Status

Can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted. Summer went by so fast and I spent it working and doing an online class. Now I’m going into week 2 of senior year this week and I already have a ton of studying and homework to get done! For some reason I’m not anxious though. I feel really calm and excited to start this semester. I’ve been waiting for pediatrics and obstetrics my entire schooling. Looking forward to all that clinical has to offer! Can’t wait to post about my experiences in my last year of nursing school. Ahhh :)

First 12 hour shift

Will be this Friday night! Don’t know what to expect or how I’ll adjust to night shift, but I’m in my dream unit so I already know I’m going to love my job! Wish me luck.

P.s. Does anyone have any secrets to getting through night shift? Or how to adjust your sleep schedule?

Scrub shopping today!

I start orientation for my internship tomorrow! I have to get scrubs that are pink or burgundy colored. I’m so excited :))

Summertime

It feels so weird not to be in school right now! I miss my nursing family already. On the hunt for a nurse externship and keeping my fingers crossed that something comes my way. Also, my room during the school year was SO messy I don’t know how I lived in it LOL I finally spent a whole day cleaning and organizing EVERYTHING! Now I just have to sort through all my binders and notebooks and get rid of papers and junk I don’t need. Oddly enough I enjoy organizing my school stuff for the new semester/year. Also, I am beyond excited for my senior year!!! Pediatrics and Obstetrics is first and this is what I’ve been waiting for my whole life! Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps :)

To keep me semi busy this summer while I continue my externship search, I will be a summer camp counselor for a science camp for little kids at my university. Its going to be a ton of fun i can tell and my salary is going to go towards the medical mission trip I plan to go on at the end of summer! Don’t know the location but apparently somewhere in Europe! Ahh

What is everyone’s summer plans? Anyone have any Peds/OB stories to share?! :D

Med-Surg 2 Clinical: Week 7

Going to be the charge nurse tomorrow on my oncology unit :). So excited!!!

I’m such a weirdo…In a good way…I hope.

Who in their right mind actually wishes they were in school and not on break?  As the fall semester was coming to an end I wanted so badly for it to be over already, but ever since my NSA officer’s meeting I’ve been anxious to start school again…and this was the day after we got out of school for break! HAHA 

I am just beyond excited to be leading my school’s chapter of NSA next year.  I spent all day yesterday and today coming up with community service project ideas and fundraising ideas.  I just see all the possibilities that come along with being on the board and I cannot wait.

I think I am most excited to hopefully be taking over for the seniors this spring semester and going to the annual NSNA convention.  This year it is in Pittsburgh, PA.  Just being able to network and make connections.  To think that in a year and a half I could have my dream job…WOW. 

Each day I thank God that I have been blessed to attend such an amazing school with the most amazing classmates and professors.  Someone pinch me, please.

CV Pathophysiology & Pharmacology II Exam = Dominated

I got a 91% on my test today!  Wooo Hooo!

All I have is class tomorrow and then I have fall break from Wednesday to next Monday!  Time to relax and celebrate :)  I’m taking a road trip to Tampa on Thursday with one of my fav nursing buddies, Sarah, to visit my rooms and USF for the first time since I moved back home in May!  We both transferred from USF so we are excited to visit!!  Cannot wait for the beautiful weather and the fun times awaiting us this weekend!

Tomorrow I am meeting my first patient (resident) and officially starting clinicals :)

First day of clinicals!

We are in our school lab, but still…LOL  They obviously want us to learn a few basics before we begin next week!

I’m just excited because I get to wear my scrubs for the first time tomorrow!  It will be a magical day for sure :))
